During World War II, the U.S. Navy's standard shallow-water diving helmet was the iconic Divinhood Style 3. Renowned for its classic appearance, it remained popular long after the war. This model marked the pinnacle of shallow-water helmet design and was Miller-Dunn's final product before the company ceased operations post-WWII. Its large front and oval top windows offered excellent visibility, and the helmet's design allowed for easy head-tilt, proving particularly advantageous for working on ship bottoms.
This example dates to the later part of World War 2. Its copper body features a rich, consistent patina. The helmet retains its original brass port guards, screws, air elbow, glass, and ID plate. The copper body is free of any notable dents. There is a small crease on the back just above the ID plate. On the direct back of the helmet are two machine-drilled holes, a little less than ½ in diameter. These could be filled or simply left as is, if the helmet is only to be displayed. Otherwise, this helmet is a super clean, straight example, direct from World War 2!
We have this impressive helmet priced well below market to sell and make someone a great find!
