These are quite possibly the finest vintage Morse Diving Equipment boots we have ever handled. Dating to February 1951, this remarkable pair appears to be New Old Stock, having survived more than 75 years in exceptional condition.
 
The wooden sole of each boot is clearly stamped “Morse Boston” and dated February 1951, providing unusually strong documentation of their manufacture. These are Morse’s impressive heavyweight diving boots, constructed with thick black leather uppers, heavy wooden inner soles, brass toe caps, brass eyelets, and substantial brass buckles.
 
Lead weights mounted beneath the wooden soles bring the weight to approximately 20 pounds per boot, or nearly 40 pounds for the pair. This tremendous weight helped keep a diver firmly planted on the bottom while working in traditional surface-supplied diving equipment.
 
Even more remarkably, each boot retains its original rope, a detail frequently lost after decades of use and storage.
 
The condition is what truly sets this pair apart. Heavyweight diving boots were working equipment—made to be soaked, dragged across decks and underwater surfaces, and subjected to extremely hard service. Somehow, this pair escaped that fate and has survived in extraordinary condition.
For the serious collector of antique diving equipment, early commercial diving history, or Morse equipment, it would be difficult to find a more impressive original pair.
