This is the famous & desirable US Navy Standard Diving Knife used in conjunction with the Mark V diving helmet. This example was made by Diving Equipment & Supply Company, aka DESCO.  
 
The knife is in like new condition and has never touched the water. The brass sheath is clearly stamped DESCO on the belt loop ring. A nice, consistent patina is present on the brass.  The knife blade, wood handle, and brass hardware are essentially flawless. The leather strap is also in like new condition. This is a fantastic display that could be left as is or easily polished back to a brilliant shine!
