For the helmet enthusiast ready for a special project: A 1943 Schrader US Navy Mark V helmet! This is a genuine WWII-era piece, identified by the serial number (1108B) stamped on the four brails of both the bonnet and breastplate. The bonnet, while retaining the original WW2 era BTE exhaust valve with chin button, spitcock valve, and air/communications elbows, is missing the brass port and faceplate frames, the communications cup, and the internal air ducts.
The breastplate is in better condition, boasting twelve studs (approximately half are loose) and matching wing nuts, two brass eyelets, as well as the dumbbell safety latch with cotter pin and brass chain. The ID plate has been removed. While the missing communications cup makes definitive matching impossible, the style of the Schrader air elbow on the bonnet strongly suggests they belong together. The two halves thread together correctly, though the original neck ring gasket is absent. The breastplate does exhibit a vertical crease along the front right edge. The copper body has been painted over long ago.
