This is a classic A.J. Morse & Son Inc. of Boston, Massachusetts, diving helmet circa 1920. This example has been given a professional polishing, resulting in an impressive shine and clean look.

This helmet features serial number 3029, allowing us to date its manufacture to circa 1920. The serial number is on the bonnet, breastplate neck rings, and all four brails. As expected with this vintage helmet, it features typical working dents on the bonnet and breastplate. The polishing of the copper body sometimes enhances these blemishes visually.

The helmet has four brails, twelve wing nuts, communications cup, communications fitting and wire clamp, exhaust, air fitting, neck ring gasket, original brass ID plate, exhaust chin button and internal air vents. The dumbbell safety latch is broken off. The serial-numbered brails and wing nuts do appear to be contemporary replacements made by Morse.

“If you have been looking for a classic American diving helmet made during the early 20th Century, this one would make a great choice. This polished example will impress everyone who sees it!”

The display stand shown in the photos is available at a discounted price with the purchase of this helmet.
